Daadi Ki Shaadi Review: A Warm Hug That Grows Cold.

Neetu Kapoor and Kapil Sharma lead a familiar ensemble cast in Ashish R. Mohan’s Daadi Ki Shaadi. While the film establishes a promising premise within the first 15 minutes, a meandering second-half screenplay ultimately keeps the situational comedy from reaching its full potential.

Daadi Ki Shaadi offers genuinely funny, heartwarming moments, but a messy screenplay routinely disrupts its own charm. While the chaotic situational comedy starts strong, the film loses its way in the second half, rushing to tie up loose ends in a hasty final 20 minutes. Its TV-sitcom treatment ultimately makes it feel like a stage play trying too hard to be a movie. On the bright side, Neetu Kapoor is mesmerizing and perfectly cast as the grandmother, and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni makes an assured Bollywood debut—even if a thin character limits her potential. It had the ingredients to be the family film of the summer, but it ultimately trips over its own chaos.

In a nutshell, Daadi Ki Shaadi plays out like a modern-day Baghban. It deserves credit for its genuine, heartfelt family moments, and while the pacing is inconsistent, Neetu Kapoor’s effervescent performance and Kapil Sharma’s comedic relief make it a decent one-time watch.

The Bollywood Elephant rating: 2.5/5 elephants. Now streaming on Netflix.
