Chand Mera Dil Review: Chand se hai dooor, Chandni kahan?

Dharma Productions' box office cold streak continues with Vivek Soni's Chand Mera Dil. Shifting gears from the late-stage romance of his brilliant Netflix film Aap Jaisa Koi, Soni explores the intense, high-stakes world of young adult love. The movie follows college students Chandni and Aarav as the harsh realities of life disrupt their youthful campus bliss.

                                              

While Vivek Soni builds a strong foundation in the first half and tests the leads in the second, the film completely unravels in the final act. Frustrating subplots and wasted supporting characters ultimately alienate the audience. Fortunately, Sachin-Jigar’s soothing background score and lovely songs make the experience bearable, elevating an otherwise average movie.

  

Few things are sadder than a high-potential script that completely loses its way by the climax—an ending that should have been left on the cutting room floor. However, thanks to a strong first half and Sachin-Jigar's excellent music, The Bollywood Elephant rates Chand Mera Dil 2.5 out of 5 elephants. The film is now streaming on JioHotstar.
