Baby Do Die Do Review: Baby, Just Keep Doing!

Co-written by Jasmeen K. Reen (Darlings) and directed by Nachikant Samant, the black comedy thriller Baby Do Die Do (BDDD) follows India's first hitwoman on a dark, emotional journey toward redemption. Unfortunately, the film fell victim to a severe box office screen crunch, squeezed out by lingering Bollywood hits like Dhamaal 4, Main Vaapas Aaunga, Welcome to the Jungle and YRF's massive release, Alpha. As the movie finally gains more traction and a wider release (India and overseas), after overcoming the steep theatrical hurdles, did the movie actually land?

Baby Do Die Do (BDDD) is a vibrant, fast-paced triumph of black comedy that feels straight out of the Sriram Raghavan school of neo-noir, turning a chaotic Mumbai into a living, breathing character backed by a roaring score. Clocking in at an engaging 125 minutes, the film features a career-best performance from Huma Qureshi alongside a stellar supporting cast, with Seema Pahwa providing sharp humor, Marudhar Shekhawat providing some much needed appreciated quirks and self burns and Sikander Kher bringing genuine menace. However, it is held back by predictable writing in the second half; the romantic subplot derails in the second half, and the final twists fail to land, leaving a slight sigh of disappointment. Yet, despite these narrative flaws, the movie remains a loud, unapologetic, and wildly entertaining ride that keeps you completely glued to the screen.

Baby Do Die Do is a sleek, edgy, and stylish neo-noir thriller that marks a brilliant start to the second half of 2026. Its impressive three-week theatrical run against box office juggernauts is a testament to its compelling content. While its quirky, pulpy vibe means it is tailored for a highly selective audience rather than the masses, it demands to be experienced on the big screen. The Bollywood Elephant gives it a well-deserved 3.5 out of 5 elephants—if it’s playing near you, do not miss it!

P.S. If Zack Snyder appreciated a movie, you know its bloody good.
